Mexican Pyramids!

My first Mexican pyramids!! Very cool. I stayed in Oaxaca later today so I could see them... which meant I had to drive 6 hours back to Mexico City for the flight home. The flight options in/out of Oaxaca are quite limited but I made do and caught the red-eye back to NYC.

La Jicara

I ate a snack here - some tostadas and hot chocolate. Weird fact, Oaxaca is known for its chocolate, but cocoa doesn’t grow here. However, because several trade routes from the south went through Oaxaca, the people learned how to make best chocolate because they had access to all the best stuff. Also, this place is fun because there’s a cool Spanish bookstore attached that had a bunch of independent journals and books by independent researchers.

Old Town Oaxaca

I love how this city feels! I love that there’s music on every corner. I love that I am never far from delicious Mexican home cooking. I love that it’s warm out and I can walk around in a t-shirt and sandals. I love that there are artists everywhere selling pottery, painted wood sculptures, textiles, rugs, and paintings. I love the desert and I love being near the mountains.

Sweden is one of the most family centered countries I have ever been to. Here they really work toward equal rights and have paid parental leave for both parents in addition to several laws that protect families. They also have an several family oriented statues like this one.

Corniglia - Cinque Terre

Corniglia - the 3rd village of the 5 in Cinque Terre. Also my personal favorite for this very reason: the gelato (plus it's pretty!) They make a mele di corniglia (honey) gelato and a basilicia (basil) gelato that is out of control good! The basil comes from their garden and is super fresh - the honey from the local bees. It's so so good. The best gelato I have ever had and worth every bit of the 365 stairs of climbing to get it! #corniglia #cinqueterre #gelato

English Gardens in Munich

I LOVED this park!! It's probably my favorite in the world! There were tons of people swimming in this stream throughout the park - and everyone is totally chill about it. Old people, young people, people who just got off work and decided to go for a dip. I put my ankles in the stream to cool off. Later we found a beer garden in the park near a pond with a TON of birds.
