Happiness Curriculum - the philosophy behind teaching happiness

View this post on Instagram

The government schools in New Delhi starting in 2018 have laid out a new happiness curriculum plan for K-8. Teachers who support this believe students stress and anxiety is too high and the schools need to address this through mediation and mindfulness. Throughout this educational philosophy you will find a focus on peace and inner self. They also talked about how our sources of happiness (food/money/belief systems etc) are not the same as the goal of happiness. Happiness is defined as “a state of no conflict, synergy or state of being in acceptance. When one is in harmony within and with the world outside, one experiences happiness.” (A. Nagraj) Only by achieving an inner state of relaxation, absence of conflict, peace and contentment will one truly achieve happiness. #fulbrightteach
